An awards ceremony for children in care and care leavers has been given a boost thanks to a £1,000 donation from the Rotary Club of Doncaster.
The money is to go towards the cost of staging the glittering annual Celebrating Success event, hosted by Doncaster Children’s Services Trust, later in the month.
This recognises and applauds fundraising or volunteering efforts; educational achievement; sporting participation; artistic endeavours and other personal achievements of all the young people the Trust cares for or works with.
Nominations can be made by Trust staff; carers; or others who work with children and young people between the ages of three and 25.
Each nominee receives a certificate from the Trust as well as a book from Doncaster Council’s Virtual School, or from Re-Read, at the event, which will also include refreshments and entertainments.
The Rotary Club are long-time supporters of the work of the Trust and have funded annual residential weekend trips to Castleton for a number of children in care. This is set to continue.
Commenting on the Rotary Club donation, Chief Executive of the Trust, Paul Moffatt, said: “We are extremely grateful to the Rotary Club of Doncaster for their very generous support towards our Celebrating Success Awards.
“The evening is a high point for the Trust as we get the chance to reward all the achievements of our children and young people. For many of them, the achievements are made in the face of tough personal challenges, which may not be acknowledged elsewhere. The donation from the Rotary Club means we can make it a truly special evening for the children and young people.”
Paul West, President of the Rotary Club of Doncaster, said: “The Rotary Club of Doncaster is very pleased to continue its support to Doncaster Children’s Services Trust as part of its commitment to engage with and provide help to deserving causes within the local community.”
