It’s foster care fortnight 2018!
For the next two weeks foster carers across the nation will be celebrated as part of a national campaign, Foster Care Fortnight.
If you haven’t heard of Foster Care Fortnight before, it is a national campaign organised by The Fostering Network with the intention of raising the profile of foster carers and saying a huge thank you to them for all of the work they do, bringing up children and young people who need it most.
This year, the theme of the campaign is around being proud to support fostering; something that as a Trust we certainly are. Our foster carers give children and young people a stable, loving, family home. They go above and beyond and take their role as ‘corporate parents’ incredibly seriously.
As a Trust we should be incredibly proud of every one of our foster carers and their families. Some of them are award winning, with our team Mockingbird scooping Team of the Year at the Doncaster Children’s Services Trust Star Awards, we’ve had foster carers awarded honours by Her Majesty the Queen, with one of our longest serving carers Ian Lindley receiving an MBE in 2017 and have even had one foster career whisked off to Florida by Ant and Dec as a thank you for her hard work.
But this fortnight isn’t about celebrating just a few, it is about sharing the stories of all of our carers and how they make a difference, no matter how seemingly small. You can find out more about what it’s like being a part of our fostering family, and see why our foster carers are proud to foster, by liking us on Facebook here or following us on Twitter here.
We hope that foster care fortnight will help encourage those of you out there who have been thinking of fostering to get in touch and talk to us about joining the Trust.
If you are inspired you can call our expert team on 0808 129 2600, fill out our enquiry form on our website or visit our office on Wednesday 16 May between 10am – 2pm this week, or Wednesday 23 May between 10am – 2pm next week.
