Trust Fostering is inviting people who are thinking about fostering to come along to an information event at the Dome.
Members of the Trust Fostering team and foster carers will be hosting an event on Thursday 29 November, between 5.30pm and 8.30pm.
The drop-in event at Doncaster Dome is a great way to learn more about the fostering process before making any decision.
Current foster carers and social workers will be among those on hand to explain the fostering process and about providing a loving and stable home for the children who need foster placements.
There are many benefits of fostering through Trust Fostering, which is part of Doncaster Children’s Services Trust – being a part of an extensive experienced fostering community who are always on hand to offer advice and 24/7 support, comprehensive training and competitive rates.
Single carer, Debbie, is new to fostering this year. When Debbie’s children flew the nest, she decided she had the space, time and love available to help one of Doncaster’s children who couldn’t live at home. She now cares for a 14-year-old.
Debbie says she hasn’t looked back or regretted her decision – and that is, she says, thanks to the excellent support she has received from Trust Fostering throughout the placement process.
Even in a short space of time, Debbie knows she’s made the right decision. She says: “It’s hard to put into words. It’s the little things like my foster teenager saying she feels at home here that really make it worthwhile. I feel like I’m helping – and it’s a two-way thing because it’s helping me to feel fulfilled too.”
People from all backgrounds can make great carers. You can apply regardless of your marital status, sexuality, race or religion. Many of the children have been through difficult times, so carers need to be great listeners and have plenty of patience.
